Overview

Software to support automated testing of power supplies and electronic load devices

Sequence can be created as if drawing a picture.

Wavy” is software that supports the creation and execution of sequences for Kikusui’s power supply units. To create a program, it is necessary either to operate the power supply unit or remote control panel, or to create a program on a personal computer using BASIC or C. However, the PBZ series and PLZ-5W series are equipped with a function to control output sequences.

On the other hand, a personal computer makes it easier to grasp the overall program and waveform image, but is somewhat difficult for users who are not familiar with programming languages. Wavy is a very easy to use program.

Wavy was developed with the goal of making it easy for even those who know nothing about programming languages to create the sequence patterns they want using a personal computer.

Ver. 4.0 is equipped with a “real-time graph monitoring function” for monitoring and logging of voltage and current, and Ver. 5.0 has a “direct control function” that allows users to operate the power supply as if using a remote control.

Wavy has two major screen configurations.
The “graph” displays waveform images, and the “sheet” displays step-by-step numerical information
A brief description of the standard procedure for creating…

  1. On the “graph,” use the mouse to draw the pattern you want to output.
  2. The voltage values and step times of the drawn pattern are automatically entered in the cells on the “sheet.
  3. When the pattern is roughly completed, modify the values in the cells on the “sheet” as necessary.

[Fig 2] is an example of a sample sine waveform provided with Wavy.

Since Wavy files are in tab-delimited text format, they can be imported into spreadsheet software such as Excel, or a sequence pattern can be created in spreadsheet software and then imported into Wavy. Wavy files are in tab-delimited text format.
Once the pattern is created, connect the PC to the power/load device via a compatible interface (RS-232C, GPIB, USB, LAN) (*If the product does not have a sequence function, Wavy will directly control the sequence.)

Interface environment

In case of GPIB, the GPIB driver provided by the following companies must be installed and operational.

  • NI-488.2 driver provided by National Instruments
  • API-GPIB (98/PC) W95, NT Ver3.50 or higher for GPIB communication driver by CONTEC
  • Japanese Windows version GPC-4301 Ver.1.10-06 or higher made by Interface Inc.
  • KEYSIGHT Inc. 82357B USB/GPIB (supported by Wavy Ver. 5.0 or higher)

Notes.

  • Cable for PC connection is not included. (For RS232C, please prepare a crossover cable.)
  • RS232C control using a USB-RS232C converter may not work properly.
  • Wavy does not support the hardware sequence chain and pause functions.

This is a trial version of “Wavy” software to support sequence creation and execution of Kikusui Electronics power and load devices. This trial version can be tried out for 3 weeks from the time of startup (there are no functional limitations other than the usage period).

*The other Wavy trial versions will not be able to be run on the PC after 3 weeks have passed after running the Wavy trial version. If you are unable to run the application, please try running it with administrator privileges.
